Joseph Purpura, also known professionally as V. Rev. Dr. Joseph F. Purpura I Chair the Department of Youth and Parish Ministry of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America.


Joseph Purpura is a graduate of Norwood High School, Iona College - BA, St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary - MDiv., Yale University - S.T.M. and Pittsburgh Theological DMin.  Joseph Purpura was ordained and Orthodox Christian Priest on Janaury 22, 1978 in Bergenfield New jersey by his Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP.  Since Ordination Joseph Purpura has used the name Fr. Joseph F. Purpura or the V. Rev. Dr. Joseph F. Purpura. Fr Joseph's primary focus is Orthodox Christian Youth Work. Started in Youth Work as a Regional Spiritual Advisor from 1981-1985, then as the North American Council of SOYO (The Youth Movement of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America) Spiritual Advisor from 1985-1991 and then as Chairman of the Department of Youth and Parish Ministry from 1990 to present.
